Discover Your Straighter, Healthier Smile
You probably know that orthodontic treatment can straighten your teeth and achieve a beautiful smile. But did you know that these aren’t the only benefits?
Orthodontic treatment is an opportunity to improve the functionality of the teeth and bite, correct facial imbalance, facilitate better oral hygiene, properly prepare for restorations and/or implants, improve sleep, and boost self-esteem.
Thanks to technological advancements, orthodontics has come a long way. We use technology like a 3D scanner that eliminates the need for gooey impression materials that are not popular with patients.
Plus, we have a range of options – including traditional metal braces, ceramic braces and Invisalign – that help us meet the unique needs of each client.
Our orthodontics team, lead by Dr. Sayeh Ehsani, works with all ages of patients – from children to adults – to achieve a straight and healthy smile.

Our Approach
We want our patients to experience orthodontics differently. At North Burnaby Dental Group, our goal is to work with our patients to achieve the healthy, beautiful smile that they desire. That’s why we’ve developed a unique collaborative approach that allows us to customize each patient’s treatment plan.
The first step is to come in for a consultation. When you come in for your first appointment, we will go over your concerns with your smile and then discuss all your treatment options so that you can feel comfortable with our recommendations.
The Treatment Process
Like people, no two orthodontic treatment plans are exactly the same. Your treatment plan will be customized for the unique needs we discover through the planning process.
-
ACTIVE PHASE
While you are receiving your orthodontic treatment, you'll come to our office for regular adjustment appointments (typically every 3 weeks or so). Elastics and/or wires will be adjusted during these appointments.
During treatment, you'll also need to avoid certain foods if you are wearing braces. Continue your excellent dental hygiene practices and keep up with at-home care to ensure you stay on track with treatment and ensure your teeth are straightened as scheduled.
Specific instructions based on your orthodontic treatment will be provided to you. Bring any questions or concerns you may have to your appointments. We can help you understand the treatment process.
-
PLANNING PHASE
In the planning phase of orthodontic treatment, we review your unique needs in detail and set up a plan for treatment with braces or Invisalign Clear Aligners.
Your first appointments may include:- An evaluation of your medical and dental history
- Taking "molds" or impressions of your teeth
- X-Rays of the teeth and jaws
- A CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) scan
After these preliminary steps are completed, we will then design your treatment plan customized for your orthodontics of choice: braces or custom-made Invisalign Clear Aligners.
-
RETENTION PHASE
Once you've completed active treatment, you will move into a post-treatment phase with retainers.
Typically, removable retainers help to maintain the changes to your teeth that happened during active treatment.
You'll need to wear your retainer as directed by your orthodontist to help stabilize your teeth and bone in their new positions.
The duration of your treatment time with ceramic or metal braces and a retainer will vary depending on your specific circumstances and factors.
Orthodontics For Children
We recommend that all children see an orthodontist once they turn 7. There are orthodontic problems that can be addressed or planned for if they are detected early.
If your child does not need early treatment, we will monitor their growth and development on a regular basis as part of our recall program. This watchful waiting gives us the opportunity to advise you when the best time is for your child to start treatment.
For our Adult Patients
There is no age limit for a straight and healthy smile. Over the last decade, orthodontic treatment has become very popular with adults.
If you have always thought of having orthodontic treatment but did not pursue it because you didn’t want traditional braces, come in for a consultation to find out if you are a candidate for treatment with Invisalign clear aligners, which are made of clear plastic.
